2. Does your office accept patients that live outside of Canada?
Yes, we can work with any person in any country depending on the service being provided.

3. What forms of payment do you accept?

5. Is Chiropractic services covered by OHIP or extended health insurance?
Chiropractic itself is not covered by OHIP, but we are happy to provide any paid receipts for services that have been rendered for health insurance services.  Please note that coverage is determined by individual policies.  We do not provide direct billing to insurance plans or adjust our pricing for insurance purposes.

Functional Medicine FAQs

1. How can I learn more about Functional Medicine and if it’s right for me?
Book a complimentary discovery call with one of our Health Coaches. We will ask for a summary of your health history, main concern(s) and listen to your story. This is an opportunity for you and our staff to identify if you are a good candidate for our services.

2. What can I do to prepare for my discovery call?
After you are booked for your discovery call, we ask that you complete our discovery call intake form. This process may take upwards of a half-hour, depending on the amount of detail you can provide. The form is sent by email and can be completed in the comfort of your own home.

3. How long should I expect the discovery call to last?
Expect the discovery call to last for 20 minutes. If you are a good candidate for our care, the Health Coach will contact you afterward with further details through email.

4.  Does your clinic offer single lab tests or a-la-carte testing?
We do not offer a-la-carte testing, as this goes against the paradigm of Functional Medicine. To address the root cause of your health issues, we will need to take a comprehensive approach.

5. Can I pay by appointment?
We currently do not offer ad-hoc appointments for Functional Medicine.

6. Is Functional Medicine covered by OHIP or extended health insurance?
Functional Medicine itself is not covered by OHIP or traditional health care plans.

7.  Is functional lab testing covered by health insurance?
Functional lab testing is usually not covered by most insurance providers. You will need to contact your insurance company for further information.

8.  Can I use my HSA or FSA account?
Please check with your HR department to be sure.

9.  What are your clinic hours?
Our clinic hours are Monday to Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. EST.

10.  Do I still need a primary care physician?
Yes, we do not provide acute care services, and we do not replace the services that your current primary care physician provides. We provide a stand-alone service.

11.  Will I see other practitioners in my Functional Medicine Program?

Yes, not only do you work with your Functional Medicine Practitioner, but you also have support from one of our Health Coaches throughout your program.

12.  Does your clinic accept patients that live outside of Canada?
Yes, we also work with patients in the US, Europe, UK, and Australia. We do appointments by phone or Zoom.

13. Can we work together remotely?
Yes! Most of the functional lab testing is done at home. All lab test kits will be mailed to you, where you perform the testing in the privacy of your own home. You will then mail them back to the lab(s) along with your sample(s). Once we receive your results from the labs (5-6 weeks after you mail them in), we will contact you to book you in with your Functional Medicine Practitioner to go over your results. Appointments with anyone on our Vagus Team can be done from the comfort of your own home or office via phone or Zoom.

14.  How does the lab testing work?
The majority of the functional lab testing is done at home. In some instances, you may have to get blood work done at a lab. Many of the tests have shipping included in the cost of the kits; if not, you will be responsible for the shipping. Instructions on how to collect your samples are included in the test kits. The payments for the test kits are made directly to the lab to ensure you have the lowest price possible.

15. Is lab testing necessary for the programs?
Yes! Labs are a vital part of the process of uncovering hidden malfunctions, discovering healing opportunities, and getting to the root cause of your health issues. Without the data and information that labs provide us, we would just be guessing what is wrong with you.

16. How much do the tests cost?
We will determine which lab test(s) will be necessary during your discovery call and will depend upon the information discussed at that time. On average, you can expect to spend between $1,000-$2,000 USD for initial testing. Regardless of how much you pay in lab fees, we have made every effort to ensure that you are receiving direct-lab wholesale pricing on all lab tests.

17. How long does it take to heal?
There are many factors involved in determining how long it will take for an individual to heal, such as your level of participation and commitment, your individual health issues, and your current state of vitality. It is important to understand that it is not reasonable to expect to undo decades of damage in just a few weeks. We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to healing because we are all unique individuals with different histories, abilities, lifestyles, and needs. This means the healing process will be as unique as you, and we like to allow it to unfold naturally as your body permits. No matter how long it takes, our entire team is here to support you throughout your healing journey.

18. What is included in the Functional Medicine Program?
A personalized health plan includes nutrition, supplement protocol, stress management, sleep, and fitness recommendations based on your results from lab testing.

19. What’s not included in the health plan?
Cost of laboratory tests and supplements. Some tests may be covered partially or fully by insurance. However, some may require a co-pay or may not be covered at all. You will need to contact your insurance company for further information.

20.  What happens at the end of my program?
Once your initial program is complete, we can re-evaluate your case and determine your best steps moving forward. To ensure your continued healing, we offer different programs to meet your needs.
