Dr. Stephanie Canestraro graduated with Honors from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. Prior to that, she received an Honors Bachelor of Science degree with a Major in Biochemistry from the University of Western Ontario. She has completed the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Course at McMaster University, as well as Biomedical Dry Needling.

When Dr. Stephanie’s health began to decline early in her chiropractic career, and the allopathic medical system had nothing to offer, she began her journey towards Functional Medicine.  Her interest in the human body, combined with her failing health, created a passion for finding the answers to her own health issues, and eventually everyone around her. She has been certified through Functional Medicine University and recently became a member of the prestigious IFMCP (Institute for Functional Medicine Practitioner) group. She continues her own research into Functional Medicine and is dedicated to finding answers to her patients’ issues.

Dr. Stephanie follows an integrative approach when treating her patients, utilizing a number of techniques, such as Contemporary Medical Acupuncture, joint manipulation, ART®, custom orthotics, Fascial Abrasion, Graston techniques, and performance optimization taping techniques. Active with continuing education courses, Dr. Stephanie continually integrates new techniques into her practice with the aim of improving function and reducing pain in her patients.

Dr. Stephanie works mostly with elite athletes using her training as a Chiropractor and soft tissue specialist. She also uses comprehensive functional medicine testing, combined with therapeutic doses of supplements and specific diets, in addition to lifestyle changes (sleep hygiene, meditation, coping techniques, imagery, biofeedback, nature therapy, etc.) for performance optimization or to treat specific health issues of players. She is currently a consulting practitioner for players on the Toronto Maple Leafs, Nashville Predators, Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders, ACE Tennis, Toronto Tennis City, and individual Hollywood actors and actresses alike. Her passion lies in concussions, degenerative neurological diseases, and gastrointestinal issues.

Dr. Stephanie started educating fellow practitioners early in her career as an assistant instructor for Biomedical Dry Needling, FAT tool, and performance taping. She propels her career forward and thrives in the face of challenging cases, while always having an experienced mentor by her side to bounce ideas off of. All her referrals have been through word of mouth. Currently, Stephanie is at a pivot point in her career training new grads to work with to take on some of the patient load but is always exploring new ways to help people.
